Neuro linguistic programming in Holborn for confidence, public speaking, habits and specific patterns you want to change.
Neuro-linguistic programming, usually shortened to NLP, is a set of practical techniques for changing the language, images and habits that shape how you respond to a situation. Sessions at our Holborn clinic are one to one, forward looking and short term, and they are often combined with hypnotherapy or breathing work.
Neuro-linguistic programming is a practical, technique based approach to changing unhelpful patterns of thought and behaviour. It works from the observation that the words you use, the pictures you run in your head and the order in which they happen all shape how you feel and act. An NLP session is a structured conversation with short exercises, aimed at a specific outcome such as speaking confidently, handling pressure or breaking a habit. It is a coaching style approach rather than a psychological therapy, and it is not a treatment for mental illness.
Changing the internal commentary that shows up before an interview, a pitch or a difficult conversation.
Rehearsal techniques for the moments where nerves usually take over, practised in the room until they hold.
Working on the trigger and the response rather than relying on willpower alone.
Routines used by athletes and performers to hold attention on the task when it counts.
Turning a vague intention into an outcome specific enough that you can tell whether you have reached it.
Noticing how you and other people frame things, and adjusting language when a conversation keeps stalling.
Defining what you want to be able to do differently, in specific and observable terms.
Tracing the sequence of thoughts, images and feelings that runs when the problem shows up.
Applying NLP techniques such as anchoring, reframing and mental rehearsal to change that sequence.
Testing the change in the room and agreeing a small piece of practice before the next session.
Certified NLP practitioner and hypnotherapist, also working in breathing technique and mind performance coaching with athletes, young people and adults.
View full profileYou will be asked unusually specific questions: not only what you think before a presentation, but whether you see a picture, where it sits, how loud the internal voice is and whose voice it sounds like. That level of detail is the point, because it gives something concrete to change.
The techniques themselves are short. Anchoring links a chosen state to a physical cue you can use in the moment. Reframing changes the meaning attached to an event. Mental rehearsal runs the situation through repeatedly with a different ending until the old sequence stops being automatic. Each is tested in the room, so you leave knowing whether it worked rather than hoping it will.
NLP grew out of practitioner observation in the 1970s rather than clinical trials, and the research base is thin. Reviews of the literature do not support NLP as a treatment for health conditions, and we do not present it as one.
What people find useful is the practical structure: clear outcomes, attention to language, and rehearsal. If you are dealing with depression, trauma, an eating disorder or anything that needs clinical care, counselling, psychotherapy or your GP is the right starting point, and we will say so.
Most people arrive with one identifiable situation rather than a general wish to feel better: a presentation to a board, an interview, a viva, a driving test, a first competitive event back after injury, or a difficult conversation they keep putting off. Performers and athletes make up a good share of that, and so do people in professional roles where a single occasion carries a lot of weight.
The other common group is habits with a clear trigger, such as reaching for the phone at midnight or the mid-afternoon vending machine. Where the picture is broader than a situation or a habit, coaching or a talking therapy is usually the better fit, and that will be said at the first appointment.
NLP is not statutorily regulated in the United Kingdom, so training and honesty matter. Our practitioner is a certified NLP practitioner who also holds hypnotherapy training and works with athletes, young people and adults.
Sessions are short term and goal led. If three or four sessions have not moved anything, we would rather say so and discuss a different route than keep booking appointments.

"Great location in the heart of the city! I would say it's a quiet oasis in a very busy area, a place to relax after a hard day at work."
